Regional Case Studies in Housing & Urbanism
The Housing & Community Regeneration Initiative has ongoing work in three states: Indiana, Michigan, and Illinois. The growing list of project locations includes Elkhart, Gary, La Porte, Mishawaka, and South Bend, Indiana; Kalamazoo, Michigan; and Chicago, Illinois.
The findings from the studies developed with these municipalities and nonprofits form the foundation for a new body of research that seeks to offer solutions to overcome a legacy of disinvestment and the loss of a culture of generating productive growth.
Urban Design
These are city and neighborhood masterplans that provide our partners with a deep understanding of the study areas' key issues as well as step-by-step guidance on implementation. Urban design case studies are most often produced from charrettes which include public input.
